Judging Criteria/List

Judges Criteria

A1 List: Persons the Club would support and who have been previously approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed.

A2 List: Persons the Club would support and who, if invited by a Society, would be in principle approved by the kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the breed on that occasion.

A3 List: Persons the Club would support to award Challenge Certificates in the breed but not yet approved by the Kennel Club for inclusion on the A2 list.

Breed Specialist:

  • a minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed
  • to have judged a minimum of 70 dog in this breed
  • attended a seminar given by a KC accredited trainer and passes the relevant examination on KC regulations and judging procedures
  • attended a seminar given by a KC accredited trainer on conformation and movement
  • have attended a conformation and movement “hands on” assessment conducted by a KC accredited trainer and passed the assessment
  • attended a breed specific seminar run in accordance with the KC code of best practice and passes an examination and/or assessment where applicable
  • bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the KC Stub Book
  • stewarded at 12 shows

Be a Member of the Kennel Club Academy

Non-Breed Specialist: 

  • a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this Breed)
  • to have judged a minimum of 70 dog in this breed
  • awarded Challenge Certificates in at least one other breed
  • attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the KC code of best practice and passes an examination and/or assessment where applicable
  • bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the KC Stub Book
  • stewarded at 12 shows

Be a Member of the Kennel Club Academy

B List: Persons the Club would support to judge at Open Shows or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates.

Breed Specialist: 

  • a minimum of 5 years’ experience owning and exhibiting in this breed
  • judged 15 classes of this breed at Open show or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates, and judged a minimum of 30 dog of this breed

Non Breed Specialist: 

  • a minimum of 4 years judging experience in any one breed
  • judged 15 classes of this breed at Open show or Championship Shows without Challenge Certificates, and judged a minimum of 30 dog of this breed
  • Non-specialist will preferably have attended an education event on the breed

C List:

For aspirant judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of the Chinese Crested Dog Club.

As a specialist the person will ideally have been a breeder or exhibitor for a minimum of 2 years, judged 15 dogs of this breed

As a non-specialist the person must have shown an interest in Chinese Crested Dogs and Toy Dogs in general.
